Best and worst ad songs
AdWeek has come out with its ranking of the five best and five worst ad songs of all time. The “worst” list includes Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s “Lust for Life” by Iggy Pop, and Victoria’s Secret’s “Love Sick” by Bob Dylan. ( I have to admit, as much as I like the ’60s standards, Dylan’s scratchy voice is not really one that reminds me of the sexy and suave Victoria Secret brand…)
The “best” list includes — of course — Coca Cola’s “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing” by The Seekers, and Volkswagen’s “Pink Moon” by Nick Drake.
So in your opinion, who got robbed? Any of those Gap dancing khaki ad tunes (like Brian Setzer’s Jump, Jive ‘n’ Wail) get you going? Or does DeBeers’s “Falling in Love at the Coffee Shop” get you teary-eyed?
