Deep breeding exercise
Not quite sure your Lab is all Lab? Better contact a lab.
Mars Veterinary, based in Montgomery County, has suggested the perfect Christmas gift for family or friends with dogs: the Wisdom Panel dog DNA test.
Even without permission from the Supreme Court, you can swab the inside of your dog’s cheek and use one of three kits to determine just what kind of dog you have. The Insights kit, for mixed dogs, tests for 190 breeds. Purebreed checks whether those papers you got with Sir Barks-A-Lot are worth anything — it will find out if the dog has the DNA of just one breed over three generations. Designer Dog can discover whether your pet is the result of an assignation between two purebreds.
Curious dog owners mail the DNA sample to Wisdom Panel and should expect the results back in about three weeks.
And why has no one yet decided this would make for a great episode of the Maury Povich show?
