Baltimore celebrity baker Duff Goldman and his Charm City Cakes are producing a cake for one of the inaugural balls in Washington on Monday.

The cake is for the Commander-in-Chief’s Ball, one of two balls President Obama will attend, and it will honor the military, featuring the seals from each branch of the service along with the presidential seal.

Goldman, famous for the reality TV series “Ace of Cakes,” said in a statement: “We are thrilled to be creating the cake for such a historical event. The cake design is just the right balance of respect and celebration, and we could not be more excited to honor our president and our country’s men and women in uniform.”

The cake will be six tiers. Originally, it was going to be eight tiers, but coming defense cuts mandated a reduced size.

(Just kidding, folks. Nothing like a little sequestration humor.)
