A surprise walk-on at wideout for Ravens?

By:

Always a card, Lottery Director Buddy Roogow had them rolling Wednesday after the Board of Public Works approved his agency’s deal to produce a Baltimore Ravens scratch ticket this year.

Roogow made a point of describing in detail one of the prizes available to lottery winners: a game-worn player jersey.

He seemed particularly interested in the fact that the jerseys would be “wrapped into a special, um, some kind of special bag, I guess, that does not betray any of the lingering aromas that come from the jersey, because the jersey’s unwashed, signed and then will be presented to whoever wants to enter that contest.”

Roogow also revealed the real impetus behind the $810,000 agreement with the team, when I asked him and Ravens President Dick Cass how both parties feel they will benefit by combining their brands.

“The Ravens have allowed me to have a tryout with them,”  Roogow said.

“Wide receiver,” Cass cut in.

Not sure whether Buddy’s got explosive speed off the line, and I haven’t seen him cut, but I suppose it can’t hurt for the Ravens to have another option if this Brandon Marshall discussion doesn’t work out.
