Lyle Sheldon, president and CEO of University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health in Bel Air, believes in pursuing a challenging goal every day.

Sheldon, who has been president and CEO since 2000, said the hospital’s core values are the pursuit of excellence; serving people with compassion and dignity; working with integrity; respecting the worth, quality, and diversity of people; being responsible and accountable; and building trust and confidence with our communities.
“Our goal is to become the preferred integrated health-care system, creating the healthiest community in Maryland,” said Sheldon, who has been a hospital executive in Florida and Maryland since 1984.
Sheldon holds a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers College and a master’s degree in health services administration from the George Washington University. He has served as a fellow to the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a member of the American Hospital Association, Maryland Hospital Association and the Harford County Health Planning Commission.
