Sandy Hillman Communications
Sandy Hillman rarely thinks about competition. “I am my own and my company’s toughest critic and given the nature of our work, I expect creativity and innovation to bubble up constantly,” she said.
Before founding her agency in 2007, Hillman helped tourists know about the beauty of Charm City as executive director of the Baltimore Office of Promotion and Tourism for 13 years. She also served more than 20 years as vice-chair and CEO at Trahan, Burden and Charles Inc., a full-service advertising and public relations firm.
Today, her company works with internationally known companies to visionary startups in a wide variety of different areas. Clients include Caesars Entertainment, The National World War II Museum and the World Series of Poker. “We are constantly stretching ourselves to come up with the next big idea that will reap rewards for our clients,” she said.
Hillman hold a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and serves on the board for the University of Maryland Foundation, Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts and Greater Baltimore Committee.
Throughout her career, Hillman has “attempted to lead by example,” she said. “I expect no more from my colleagues than I expect from myself. I believe that every individual brings specific value to an organization. I do not expect everyone to excel at everything. I do, therefore me live by the mantra ‘Manage to Strength’.”
