Palmer, Koundourakis appointed to McDaniel board of trustees
Palmer, of Baltimore, retired in 2001 from his career in investment management. He was portfolio manager and vice president at T. Rowe Price from 1969–1989 before serving as vice president and partner at Alex Brown Investment Management and partner at Brown Advisory (after its purchase of Alex Brown Investment Management in 2008). He spent nearly two decades investing a portion of McDaniel’s endowment during his tenure at Alex Brown Investment Management and Brown Advisory, and he and his wife, Susan, established a scholarship at McDaniel in 2008 that annually awards support to a deserving student from Baltimore City.
Palmer has served on the board and as vice chairman of the former Lutheran Hospital in Baltimore. In 2011, he was elected to the advisory board of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics at Colgate University in New York.
Koundourakis, of Manhasset, N.Y., is a partner and head trader at Gracie where he works with Gracie’s flagship funds, the Gracie Credit Opportunities. He was previously a managing director, founding member and execution trader at Calyon/CLCM, vice president for integrated credit sales at Merrill Lynch and senior broker and global head of the credit derivative business at Cantor Fitzgerald.
He received a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1993 from McDaniel.
