Harlan, Lane-Kunz named co-chairs of Shapiro Sher’s Employment Law Group
Eric R. Harlan and Renée Lane-Kunz, partners at Shapiro Sher Guinot & Sandler, have been named co-chairs of the firm’s Employment Law Group. The group counsels companies regarding developments in state and federal employment law, employment litigation avoidance, and a wide range of general human resource matters.
Harlan is a trial lawyer with sixteen years of experience representing clients in state and federal courts. He has achieved favorable results for clients in a variety of employment-related matters, including actions to enforce non-competition or non-solicitation agreements, claims alleging breach of employment agreement, wrongful discharge, sexual harassment, and violations of federal and state anti-discrimination laws.
In recognition of his accomplishments, Martindale-Hubbell awarded Harlan its AV Peer Review Rating, the highest rating available.
Lane-Kunz has 20 years of management experience in the hospitality and tourism industry. A longtime member of the Executive Committee at the Harbor Court Hotel in Baltimore, she handled general liability claims, employment law and human resource issues, and supervised outside counsel. In her legal career, she has worked with clients in diverse industries, including hospitality, manufacturing, higher education, information technology, biotechnology, and government contracting.
Lane-Kunz has drafted employment handbooks, negotiated employment agreements, and counseled organizations on hiring practices. She has also successfully resolved complaints brought against employers by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Maryland Commission on Human Relations.
