Smoke cleared on potential conflict of interest

We reporters try our best to avoid conflicts of interest when it comes to writing stories. Sometimes stories get passed on to other reporters to write, and, if that’s not possible, it’s best to disclose any bias or conflict to the reader.

The Sun’s Justin Fenton tweeted earlier about what he called the “unusual disclosure o’ the day.” And it’s a doozy. Or, should I say, a doobie.

The City Paper’s Van Smith has a story in this week’s issue about Reptilian Records’ owner Christopher Neu (known as “Chris X”) receiving probation after pleading guilty to drug possession with intent to distribute.
