UMMC President and CEO Jeffrey A. Rivest said as the pressure to push down the cost of care becomes more intense, community hospitals may not be able to afford to provide care to patients with the most complicated conditions. “So this particular facility, I think, is being developed at the right time. It helps us begin to get ready for what we think will be more complex patient volume that comes to us in the next three to five years,” he said.
