You have the recession to thank for that — the list of billionaires is also considerably shorter, going from 1,125 people last year to 793 people this year.
In other tidbits, the average net worth of $3 billion was down 23 percent in 12 months, Forbes reported. Bill Gates lost $18 billion (ouch) but regained his title as the world’s richest man, worth $40 billion.
Is this what they mean when they say the recession is affecting the wealthy, too? Because it’s not exactly tugging at my heart strings…
