JBG Cos. to develop $200M campus for National Cancer Institute

The JBG Cos., of Chevy Chase, a commercial real estate developer, said it was chosen by the U.S. General Services Administration to develop a new headquarters and research campus near Rockville for the National Cancer Institute.

The 575,000-square-foot, two-building complex will house 2,100 employees, and will be erected on land owned by the Johns Hopkins University at the Shady Grove Life Sciences Center.

The project, designed by HOK, will cost about $200 million, and will be built to LEED Gold standards. JBG said it plans to break ground on the nine-acre development later this year, with completion scheduled in approximately two years.
