FREDERICK — A Federal Election Commission audit has found errors in Rep. Roscoe Bartlett’s campaign finance reports for the 2008 election cycle.
The Frederick News-Post reported Thursday that the audit found that Bartlett’s campaign understated contribution receipts by nearly $30,000 and understated expenses by about $67,600.
Also, the campaign was found to have underreported its cash on hand in both 2007 and 2008.
The Maryland Republican blames the discrepancies on changes in the campaign’s staff and computer program. He points out that the audit didn’t reveal any missing funds or misappropriation of money.
A commission spokeswoman says no enforcement action has been taken but she didn’t rule out the possibility of such action later.
