BGE: More than 33,000 without power in central Md.

BBaltimore Gas & Electric says more than 33,000 of its central Maryland customers have lost power during the storm that’s battering the East Coast.

The jurisdiction with the most outages is Anne Arundel County, with nearly 14,000. Of those, more than 6,000 have had their power restored.

In total, as of 3:30 p.m. Thursday, BGE had restored power to more than 15,000 customers, and more than 17,000 remained in the dark.

BGE says additional outages are likely throughout Thursday and into Friday as the rain combines with predicted wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour. Flooding of underground gas and electric equipment is also possible.
