Gov. O’Malley meets with EDF officials

ANNAPOLIS — Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley has met with Electricite de France officials to discuss the potential for moving forward with a third nuclear reactor at Calvert Cliffs.

Shaun Adamec, an O’Malley spokesman, says the governor met with company officials at the governor’s residence in Annapolis on Tuesday.

Adamec says the discussion focused on the shared hope of trying to revive the project.

Baltimore-based Constellation Energy said last week it would not go forward with the third reactor, citing risks associated with the cost. France’s EDF Group, parent of Electricite de France, which bought out nearly half of Constellation’s nuclear operation about two years ago, said it was “shocked” by Constellation’s decision.
