UMBC to study development effect on water quality

BALTIMORE — Researchers at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County say they will study how development affects water quality and supply with the help of a federal grant.

UMBC is one of eight institutions receiving a total of $5 million from the National Science Foundation under a five-year grant. UMBC is getting $1.5 million and will lead the effort.

The researchers will also study the effect of urban landscapes on the climate.
