The Appellate Judicial Nominating Commission last week submitted to Gov. Martin O’Malley three possible candidates to fill one open seat on the Court of Special Appeals.
The commission nominated the Hon. Audrey J. S. Carrion, the Hon. Shirley M. Watts and the Hon. Pamela Janice White to fill a vacancy on the state’s highest court. The spot opened in July due to the mandatory retirement of the Hon. Arrie W. Davis.
O’Malley’s practice has been to select an appointee from the list provided, even though he is not required to do so.
The nominating commission consists of 17 members — 12 appointed by the governor and the remaining five elected by the Maryland State Bar Association.
