Red Cross to serve meals to Baltimore area tornado victims

BALTIMORE — The Red Cross will serve Thanksgiving meals to families affected by the tornado that hit northeast Baltimore and parts of Baltimore County last week.

Volunteers will serve meals Thursday afternoon at Reginald F. Lewis High School, which is near the damaged communities. The meal service is a joint effort between the Red Cross, Baltimore city government, the Wegmans grocery chain and Classic Catering, a Maryland company.

The Red Cross says it has helped more than 80 displaced families and provided over 800 meals since the tornado last Wednesday, which tore the roofs off apartment buildings and damaged more than 450 apartments and homes.
