The Greater Baltimore Technology Council appointed two new top executives Tuesday, tapping Sharon Webb to be the organization’s CEO.
Webb, a former executive with consulting firm Riggs, Counselman, Michaels & Downes, will take the post Jan. 1.
Jennifer Gunner, who had served as interim executive director since June, will be the council’s new COO.
“Technology represents an ever-increasing influence throughout our professional lives and across industries as a catalyst for business growth and success,” Webb said in a written statement. “It is exciting to think that the GBTC can play a central role as the ‘go to’ resource fueling economic strength for Baltimore and the surrounding region.”
Doug Schmidt, the council board member who headed the search committee, said Webb was chosen because she has a clear plan “to sustain and grow the GBTC and fulfill the organization’s mission of supporting the region’s business and technology communities.”
