Edward J. Mazur has joined Clifton Gunderson, a certified public accounting and consulting firm, as senior advisor for Public Sector Services, working in the Mid-Atlantic practice based in Timonium. Mazur has more than 35 years of experience as a governmental financial management executive and standards setter, including as controller of the Office of Federal Financial Management in the Office of Management and Budget, state comptroller of Virginia, and a member of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board and the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board. He most recently served as senior advisor for governmental financial management at Cherry, Bekaert & Holland. Mazur is a CPA and chair of the Audit and Financial Management Advisory Committee of the U.S. Small Business Administration. He is also a member of the Financial Management Standards Board of the Association of Government Accountants and of the Financial Reporting Model Task Force of the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board.
Towson University’s team won a recent four-team cyber security competition hosted by Computer Sciences Corp. Teams from Community College of Baltimore County, University of Maryland, College Park and James Madison University were second, third and fourth. The object of Cyb3r Battl3ground was to test the teams’ ability to defend networks against professional hackers.
Gregory A. Hazlett has been named to the boards of directors of the Adams Express Co. and of Petroleum & Resources Corp. Hazlett is senior vice president–head of global equity strategies with Pacific Investment Management Co. Before joining PIMCO, he served as chief investment officer for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Hazlett has also served as managing director–global equities for Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and as a consultant to investment management companies. He is a director of other closed-end funds, including Aberdeen Emerging Markets Telecommunications and Infrastructure Fund, PXP Vietnam Emerging Equity Fund and PXP Vietnam Lotus Fund. The Adams Express Co. and Petroleum & Resources Corp. are Baltimore-based closed-end investment companies whose shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange.
Wendy E. Jacobs was recently elected to a two-year term on the board of directors of the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland, a partnership of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Maryland Legal Services Corp. Jacobs is the director of the forensic and valuation services division of Weyrich, Cronin & Sorra, an accounting firm with offices in Lutherville, Bel Air, and Elkton.
Donald K. Greger has been hired as business development executive of DocPoint Solutions, a subsidiary in Fulton of Quality Associates that assists organizations in enhancing employee collaboration and information exchange using the Microsoft SharePoint suite. Most recently, Greger has served as a business consultant to Washington, D.C.-area firms. Before that, he was chief operating officer of America’s Remote Help Desk, in Eldersburg; president and COO of Driven Inc.; and president and CEO of HIPAAdocs Corp. in Columbia.
Elizabeth Hurley has been promoted to mid-Atlantic regional manager by Kimball Office, a supplier of workplace furniture. She will work with the sales team in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Hurley most recently was a government sales manager.
