
Separate images combined into one show the lunar eclipse that was visible to most of North America in the early morning hours Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010. Beginning at 1:30 a.m. on the East Coast, the eclipse, the first to fall on the winter solstice in 372 years, reached totality (total eclipse) around 3:17 a.m. and was over by 5:00 a.m. (The Daily Record/Rich Dennison)
