Homeowners challenge expansion of Md. hospital

BETHESDA — A group of homeowners is trying to overturn a zoning board decision that would allow the expansion of Suburban Hospital in Bethesda.

The Huntington Terrace Citizens Association has filed a notice appealing an October zoning decision that would allow the hospital to demolish hospital-owned houses and build an addition and parking garage.

The president of the citizens association, Amy Shiman, says the group will argue that the county zoning appeals board applied “incorrect legal standards” when it approved the hospital’s expansion plans. The appeal was filed with Montgomery County Circuit Court on Tuesday.
