A Baltimore fire spokesman says two workers were injured in an explosion in a manhole near a state office complex.
Fire spokesman Kevin Cartwright says the explosion occurred about 12:30 p.m. Monday at 201 W. Preston St. The workers suffered first- and second-degree burns to their face, arms and hands and were taken to nearby hospitals, where they were reported in serious condition.
Cartwright says firefighters are waiting for BGE to arrive to shut off the power to determine the extent of damage to the area.
The fire spokesman says power to surrounding buildings is still on and the cause of the explosion has not been determined.
