COLLEGE PARK — Prince George’s County Police say a man was shot to death in College Park, bringing the county’s homicide total to 11 in as many days.

County police say a man was fatally shot in the 8800 block of 38th Avenue near the University of Maryland around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Campus police sent an e-mail warning to the university community saying that county police are looking for a suspect wearing a ski mask after a shooting on 38th Avenue.

Executive Rushern Baker said on WTOP-FM’s “Ask the Executive” program on Tuesday that he’s concerned about a spike in homicides in the county in the new year, but that the acting police chief is “on top of it.”
