Small fire briefly closes 3 subway stations

Three Baltimore subway stations have reopened after a small fire on the tracks interrupted service downtown.

The Maryland Transit Administration says all stations are now open after several were closed briefly Thursday afternoon.

Fire department spokesman Chief Kevin Cartwright says train traffic was interrupted and power was shut off briefly while firefighters assessed the small fire about 800 feet from the Shot Tower station. He says there are no reports of injuries.

Cartwright says the small fire was caused by an arcing third rail cover.
