Mayor Rawlings-Blake delivers State of City address

Baltimore’s mayor says she’s choosing a “straight-talking, no sugarcoating path” and proposing the creation of a 10-year financial plan for the city.

In her second State of the City address on Monday, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said such a plan would help the city create long-term priorities and make core city services more cost effective.

Rawlings-Blake highlighted progress made in education and public safety during her first year in office and announced the creation of a new Youth Cabinet to coordinate resources and service for children.

The mayor also announced three new initiatives, including a $1 million innovation fund for short-term investments, a program to reward those who report fraud and a volunteer initiative to train recovered drug addicts to help others in recovery.
