Gay marriage supporters plan Valentine’s Day push

ANNAPOLIS — Same-sex marriage supporters will rally in front of the Maryland State House on Valentine’s Day as part of a national campaign.

Supporters of a measure to legalize the unions in Maryland said last week they will rally in the state capital on Valentine’s Day and lobby lawmakers later that night.

If approved by lawmakers, Maryland would become the sixth state to legalize gay marriage. A state senator switched his vote in favor of the measure Thursday after what he called “appalling” behavior by opponents at public hearing on the measure.
