Larry Blum promoted to VP by Merkle

Larry Blum

Larry Blum has been promoted to vice president of business development in healthcare and consumer packaged goods practices by Merkle. He most recently led the new business expansion at the Columbia marketing firm’s healthcare practice. Before joining Merkle, Blum was managing partner at Vertical Consulting. He also has been senior vice president of business development at Catalina Health Resource, and has held marketing and sales management positions at Nestlé, H.J. Heinz, Coca-Cola and GlaxoSmithKline.


CCS Mid-Atlantic has added three members to its staff: Ivan Baran most recently served as co-founder, vice president, CFO and engineer of Arc Light Entertainment Inc.; he will be a systems engineer in the Columbia office. Steve Beckler will be a sales manager in the Columbia office, specializing in distance learning systems, teleconferencing, telemedicine applications and audio/video systems. Carrie Rehberg is a full-time trainer; she previously was a trainer for Spotsylvania County Professional Development Program and a department chairperson. CCS serves customers in the corporate, government, education, health and hospitality industries through offices in Columbia, and in Richmond, Fredericksburg and Virginia Beach, Va.


Robert White, assistant vice president of professional and support services at Carroll Hospital Center, in Westminster, recently was appointed to the advisory board of Maryland Hospitals for a Healthy Environment. The organization is a technical assistance and networking initiative that promotes environmental sustainability in health care. Participants include hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and research laboratories. White joined the hospital in 2004 as the director of supply chain management.

Joan Webb Scornaienchi, executive director of HC DrugFree, was elected 2011 chair of the Howard County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Advisory Board, which reviews services relating to alcohol and drug abuse education, treatment and prevention. Scornaienchi has 20 years of experience in educational administration, in addition to service as a drug and alcohol prevention specialist for a county-funded hospital program. She was a grants specialist and education program specialist for the Division of Special Education/Early Intervening Services of the Maryland State Department of Education. She also served in the financial services division of a Fortune 100 company in Columbia. HC DrugFree, a nonprofit based in Columbia, seeks to promote the raising of drug-free teens.


Annie Truax has been hired as an assistant account executive by Planit, of Baltimore. She previously was an assistant planner at Initiative Media, in Atlanta, and an account management intern at Laird+Partners in New York City.


Matt McNeeley has joined Continental Realty Corp. as its senior corporate recruiter. For the past nine years, he was a senior recruiter for The Bozzuto Group. McNeeley has a bachelor’s degree from Towson University. He is a member of the Property Management Association’s membership committee and its human resources council. Continental is a Baltimore-based commercial, retail and residential development, and management company.
