Peter Andresen, a Certified Public Accountant, has been hired by Mister, Burton, Palmisano & French, of Hunt Valley. Andresen has 16 years of public accounting experience, most recently with Stout, Causey and Horning, P.A. He has conducted assurance and other year-end services for middle-market companies, and has led internal audit projects for not-for-profit entities and a large public utility. Andresen serves on the board of directors of the American Subcontractors Association of Baltimore.
Edward A. Hubner, of EBL Engineers, of Baltimore, has been designated Engineer of the Year by the Maryland Society of Professional Engineers. The award recognizes exceptional technical contributions, many years of service to the profession, and contributions to MDSPE. Hubner’s primary responsibility is for coordination and scheduling of projects in the firm’s mechanical/electrical department and oversight of the construction management group. EBL Engineers provides mechanical, electrical, fire protection and structural design services for industrial, educational, commercial, historical and governmental building structures.
Karen Harris, senior manager in the Baltimore office of the Reznick Group, a national CPA firm, has been elected to the board of directors for Maryland New Directions. The nonprofit provides career counseling and job training skills for single mothers and women trying to re-enter the workplace. Harris, a senior audit manager, has experience providing audit, accounting and tax services to real estate developers, owners and operators of multi-family properties, commercial real estate properties. She also has experience with not-for-profit accounting.
St. Joseph Medical Center, of Towson, has added three staff members: Paul Arias has been appointed director of integrated care management. He most recently worked at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va., as senior director of case management. Jesus Cepero has been appointed executive director of the Heart and Vascular Institute. He most recently was the vice president of nursing for critical care and the Heart Institute at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Cepero has also held leadership positions in emergency services and trauma care at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Capital Health System, and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Jane McCaffrey has been appointed director of compliance – clinical patient care and education. McCaffrey is a Patient Safety Leadership fellow, past president of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, ISO Auditor-certified and a former director of quality management services in a 350-bed facility. She has been with St. Joseph since August in an interim risk management role. McCaffrey serves on the Joint Commission’s Patient Safety Advisory Board and the editorial boards for Healthcare Risk Management and ECRI’s Risk Control.
