PRESTON — Nine fishermen from Texas and Delaware are facing charges for fishing in an off-limits area in Maryland’s Choptank River.
Maryland Natural Resources Police say the nine are charged with illegally fishing in a spawning area.
Four were charged on April 9 and five more the next day after officers received a tip about illegal fishing.
Natural Resources Police say the fishermen face up to $1,500 in fines for each fish. A May 13 court date was scheduled in Caroline County District Court on the charges.
They should be sentenced to the full extent of the law
They are criminals who take and take at everyone’s expense
They should go to jail
They ruin it for law abiding watermen
