Pending home sales drop in Baltimore area

There were 2,712 home sales contracts signed in the Baltimore metropolitan area in April, 5.1 percent below the 2,857 total in March, and 21.8 percent below the tax credit-fueled surge of 3,466 in April 2010, according to RealEstate Business Intelligence LLC, a source of real estate information in the mid-Atlantic region.

April fell short of March’s jump in sales, largely caused by the release of pent-up demand built up from the lull in activity in the second half of 2010. However, median sale price was $215,000, 7.5 percent over March’s $200,000.

This was the first month-over-month increase since October and the fourth month-over-month increase in the past year.
