A former air traffic controller for the Navy has been sentenced to life in prison for interstate domestic violence in the stabbing death of his wife in 2009 and attempted witness intimidation.
Thirty-year-old Ryan Holness, of Lexington Park was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in Baltimore.
According to evidence presented at his two-week trial, Holness had a $500,000 life insurance policy on his wife, 26-year-old Serika Dunkley Holness, who lived in Brooklyn, N.Y. Her body was found on the side of a rural Eastern Shore road on June 5, 2009.
Ryan Holness had told police that he and his wife were carjacked while returning to Maryland from New York. But DNA evidence implicated Ryan Holness in the slaying.
