Candidates gather for Baltimore mayoral forum

Candidates for Baltimore mayor will be gathering at Coppin State University for a forum sponsored by the city chapter of the NAACP, the Greater Baltimore Urban League, and the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

The forum is being held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the university’s Physical Education Complex.

Organizers say the forum will focus on issues including the budget, schools, youth programs, jobs, and police and fire safety.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is facing challenges from a number of candidates in the upcoming Democratic primary, including State Sen. Catherine Pugh, Greater Baltimore Board of Realtors Vice President Joseph T. “Jody” Landers, former city planning director Otis Rolley and Circuit Court Clerk Frank Conaway. Councilman Carl Stokes says he is considering a run.

Only one Republican, Vicki Ann Harding, has filed.
