CUMBERLAND — The Cumberland Fire Department says an ambulance delivered two months ago is sitting idle because the city hasn’t been able to pay for it.
The Cumberland Times-News reported Wednesday that the city also hasn’t paid for three new police cars that were delivered last week.
City Administrator Jeff Repp says the holdup stems from an upcoming debt restructuring that will max out the city’s $10 million annual borrowing authority.
Repp says the City Council recently passed a resolution enabling Cumberland to borrow the nearly $330,000 it needs to pay for the emergency vehicles. He says he expects the loan to close on Friday.
