S. Allen Brown IV has been elected president of the Belt’s Corp., a distribution company in Baltimore that provides warehousing, packaging and transportation, including U.S. Customs and Foreign Trade Zone services. Brown, who has been with the company for 22 years, most recently as vice president and director of operations, replaces his father, S.A. “Skip” Brown III, who will continue with the company as a business advisor and chairman of the board of directors. The new president also is the head of Belt’s Transportations Services and Belt’s Intermodal Corp., and is a member of the Belt’s Corp. board of directors.
Murphy & Dittenhafer Architects recently received the inaugural Voussoirs Award from Alpha Rho Chi Architectural Fraternity at its national convention. The award recognizes the most exemplary collaborative building project. The firm, which has offices in Baltimore, and York, Pa., was honored for its work on the CODO 241 mixed-use redevelopment project in downtown York.
R. Christopher Rosenthal, a director in the forensic and valuation services group at Ellin & Tucker, has been elected secretary of the Baltimore Estate Planning Council. He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser in business valuation and certified in financial forensics by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Rosenthal is the immediate past chair of The Appraisal Foundation Advisory Council and a current member of the nominating committee. He is the past chairman of the Forensic and Valuation Services Committee of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants.
The website of St. Agnes Hospital, which was designed and launched early this year by Vitamin, of Baltimore, has won the Gold award in the hospital websites category of the 13th annual Web Health Awards. The launch of the website, which incorporates social media networks, coincided with the hospital’s campus expansion plan: the Emergency Department and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit have recently been renovated, a new main entrance and patient tower have opened, and the Cancer Institute, Cardiovascular Institute and Medical Office Building will be expanded.
Russell K. Snyder, president and chief executive officer of Volunteers of America Chesapeake, in Lanham, has been selected to the Leadership Greater Washington Class of 2012. Snyder oversees all of Volunteers of America Chesapeake’s 26 programs throughout the Mid-Atlantic that serve the homeless, mentally ill, people with intellectual disabilities, ex-offenders, people with substance abuse issues, the elderly, and children.
Kevin McAndrews has been promoted to president of Atapco Properties, of Baltimore. McAndrews had been vice president of acquisitions and development. Atapco is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Trading and Production Corp.
