$12,000 reward offered in slaying of Laurel native

MACON, Ga. — Authorities in Macon are offering a reward of $12,000 for information leading to an arrest in the slaying of a recent law-school graduate whose dismembered body was found outside her apartment building.

Macon Police Chief Mike Burns announced the reward Wednesday. No arrests have been made in the killing of 27-year-old Lauren Giddings since her body was discovered June 30. Police say some of her remains are still missing.

Giddings of Laurel, Md., graduated from Mercer University law school in May.

Late Tuesday police searched the apartment of her next-door neighbor, 25-year-old Stephen McDaniel. Police have identified him as one of several persons of interest in the case. McDaniel is jailed on unrelated burglary charges. A bond hearing scheduled for Thursday has been postponed.
