Blogger seeks dismissal of Baltimore councilwoman’s suit

A blogger being sued by a Baltimore councilwoman will be in court seeking the dismissal of the libel and defamation suit.

Councilwoman Belinda Conaway is suing political blogger Adam Meister and his publisher for $21 million over a column that alleged she doesn’t live in the city. A motion to dismiss the suit is expected to come before a judge on Monday.

The suit alleges the column was meant to force Conaway from office.

On election documents, Conaway lists a Baltimore address used by several members of her politically active family. Her attorney says a Reisterstown home was listed on tax records as her primary residence because she files jointly with her husband and he lives there part-time. The attorney has said Conaway is seeking to correct the records.
