The Hotel at Arundel Preserve opens its doors

The Fresh Market Inc. will hold a grand opening on Aug. 24 at 838 Dulaney Valley Rd. with chef demonstrations, and ample food samples throughout the store. A drawing will be held to give away a $1,000 “pantry,” which will provide a stock of The Fresh Market’s own brand of goodies, sold under the TFM label.

The Towson store will be 21,260 square feet and also feature a full-service, in-house bakery, a meat counter and gourmet to-go entrees as well as fresh seafood and produce.

The county seat has also seen a new ShopRite and Safeway open over the past year.

“Buying Into Baltimore,” which can lead to between $4,000 and $5,000 for eligible potential city homeowners to use toward purchase of a house, is open for registration.

The Sept. 10 event is billed as a home buying fair and neighborhood tour of the city’s east side by Live Baltimore. Participants meet at Mergenthaler Vocation-Technical High School and join the tour for a cost of $10 per person.

The city is offering a $5,000 incentive to buyers of the “Vacants to Value” program, a signature project of Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake aimed at selling some of the city’s decrepit, blighted vacant housing units to pioneers willing to take a chance on sweat equity.

The Hotel at Arundel Preserve, a 150-room full-service hotel at The Town Center at Arundel Preserve, opened this week in Anne Arundel County.

The hotel is part of the huge Town Center development that includes The Residences, a 242-unit “ultra-luxury” apartment project and more than
18,000 square feet of retail space.

The Town Center in the fast-growing county tinged with gold from BRAC expansions and the new casino at Arundel Mills, is also the site of the new Grillfire Arundel, a restaurant that’s part of the New York-based George Martin Group that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.

The Town Center at Arundel Preserve is a project of Southern Management Corp. It is located near the Arundel Mills Boulevard exit of MD Route 295.

Renovations and expansion of an old industrial building at Falls and Clarkview Roads in Mt. Washington is nearing completion.

Look soon for the grand opening of Earth, Wood and Fire, an upscale restaurant owned by Mark Hoffmann and partners Carter Mason, Greg Gunning and John Toomey. They plan to offer gourmet pizza and burgers for lunch and dinner in the 3,900-square-foot establishment that will have a coal-fired oven as its core attraction.

Continental Realty Corp. is the leasing agent for the development, which will also have 8,200 square feet of retail space with an on-site parking lot.

Happy birthday to White Marsh Mall.

The suburban gem turns the big 3-0 this year, and celebrations will take place this weekend beginning Friday. Look for shopping incentives, fun-filled events and family-friendly entertainment.

The Baltimore City Pipe Band will return to play at the birthday bash – with some of the same members who performed when the mall opened on Aug. 12, 1981.
