OCEAN CITY — Ocean City has activated phase one of its hurricane action plan in preparation for Irene.
The city’s emergency management officials on Thursday asked anyone who had planned to travel to Ocean City to postpone their visit until the situation improves.
The city also says mobile home residents should secure their homes and prepare for possible evacuation. People who live in known flood-prone areas were advised to do the same.
Emergency management officials say Irene is expected to have a significant impact on Ocean City. Gale force winds are expected to start affecting the area about 6 p.m. Saturday. Total rainfall for Ocean City over the next three days is forecast to be 9.5 inches.
