On the Move, 8/29: Jacobin hired as VP of 1st Mariner Mortgage

Dave Jacobin

Dave Jacobin has been hired by 1st Mariner Mortgage, of Baltimore, a division of 1st Mariner Bank, as vice president and area manager of its Washington, D.C., metro region. Jacobin will recruit, train and manage employees. He previously worked for 18 years at Chevy Chase Bank/B.F. Saul Mortgage, where he was named director of retail mortgage lending in 2008.

Boards

Three new members were named to The Arc Baltimore’s board of directors: Donald Himmelfarb, who recently retired after serving as president and COO of DTG (formerly Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group); Amy Beth Leasure, assistant solicitor of the Baltimore City Law Department’s Labor and Employment Division; and Kimberly Longford, an associate with Hodes, Pessin & Katz. , P.A. Also, parent advocate Patricia Rosner was re-elected. All four will serve three-year terms.

Health Care

Harbor Hospital, of Baltimore, has added five physicians: Alec Beningfield, M.D., is a board-certified otolaryngologist whose specialties include pediatric otolaryngology, obstructive sleep apnea, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, rhinology and laryngology. David Hager, M.D., works in pediatrics and emergency medicine at the hospital’s emergency department; he attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Maryland. Jose Lopez, M.D., has been named chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine. Milford H. Marchant, M.D., specializes in the nonoperative and operative treatment of injuries in youth and adults; he attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Marchant is seeing patients in the Aaron C. Sollod building and at Harbor Hospital HealthPark in Pasadena. Boaz D. Rosen, M.D., is a board-certified cardiologist who completed his residency in internal medicine at Harbor Hospital and completed a research and clinical fellowship in cardiac imaging at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Neal Zimmerman, M.D., a partner with Greater Chesapeake Hand Specialists, a hand surgery/orthopedic group based in Lutherville, has been included in a listing of the top physicians in the country by U.S. News & World Report. Dr. Zimmerman was among one of three physicians affiliated with Union Memorial Hospital identified to be in the top 1 percent in the nation in their specialty. Dr. Zimmerman, who also works with patients in the Carroll County region in the group’s Westminster office, is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and specializes in treatment of the upper extremity.

Government

Howard County recently became of one of the 41 counties nationwide to receive the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award for 2011 from the National Purchasing Institute. This is the third consecutive year the county has received the award.

Real Estate

Colliers International, which has its Baltimore regional headquarters in Columbia, has named Matthew J. Haas a partner and Kevin J. Haus a managing director and principal. Haas and Haus, who previously were vice presidents of Manekin LLC, specialize in leasing and selling office and flex real estate in the Baltimore region. Haas earlier was president of Haas Tailoring Co. The graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park has served on the boards of United Way of Central Maryland and United Cerebral Palsy of Maryland. Haus has more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate.
