Man shot in UMB parking garage

Authorities say a man has been shot several times in the back at a University of Maryland parking garage in Baltimore.

Police say the man was shot about 6 p.m. Thursday at the underground garage on Redwood Street, and that the assailant fled. Detective Kevin Brown, a police spokesman, says the victim was in critical but stable condition.

A university official says the school enacted a “shelter in place” emergency protocol for people in the social work and law buildings. By 7:30 p.m., people were freely leaving campus buildings and cars were allowed out of the parking garage.
