The Daily Record honors 46 Leading Women

The Daily Record on Dec. 1 honored 46 up-and-coming women leaders from Maryland during the newspaper’s annual Leading Women awards ceremony.

The Leading Women program, introduced in 2010, honors women 40 years of age or younger on the accomplishments they’ve realized so far in their careers and their communities, as well as their commitment to inspiring change.

About 400 attended the event, held at the Hyatt Regency, Inner Harbor, in Baltimore. Nominations were solicited from past Maryland’s Top 100 Women honorees, women’s organizations and the region’s business community. More than 100 nominations were received. Judges from the community and The Daily Record met Sept. 26 to select the final list of honorees.

The event also featured the presentation of a $1,500 Leading Women scholarship to Meenu Singh, a sophomore at the University of Maryland, College Park. Singh is studying civil engineering and philosophy. Sponsored by Wells Fargo, the scholarship is designed to recognize Leading Women in Maryland universities who have the potential to become one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women. Nominations were open to any freshman or sophomore attending a four-year, fully accredited degree-granting institution in the state, and the criteria for selection mirrored those used to select the Leading Women honorees.

The evening’s sponsors were Title Sponsor Chimes; Award Sponsor Kaiser Permanente; Leadership Sponsor Wells Fargo, and Visionary Sponsors Epsilon Registration Inc. and VPC Inc.
