Debate over growth turns ugly in Frederick County

FREDERICK — The debate over growth planning in Frederick County has turned nasty on a radio talk show hosted by the county’s top elected official.

The Frederick News-Post reported Thursday that former state Delegate Anita Stup called Frederick County Planning Commission member Catherine Forrence a “bitch” on the Dec. 21 show hosted by County Commissioners President Blaine Young.

Stup and Young have apologized for the remark broadcast on WFMD-AM. The News-Post reports that Young apparently tried and failed to bleep the word by hitting a seven-second delay button.

Forrence says she has filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission.

She has publicly objected to Young’s push to rewrite the county’s 10-year growth plan to increase residential development potential by about 50 percent.
