Bel Air teen charged in father’s shooting death

BEL AIR — A 16-year-old boy has been charged with fatally shooting his father at their Bel Air home and dumping the body in a pond behind a relative’s home in Aberdeen.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the home on Monday night for a domestic disturbance. They found blood and evidence of a shooting and began searching for the teen. He was arrested later after a chase that ended with a crash.

The sheriff’s office says investigators determined that 16-year-old Robert Richardson III killed his 58-year-old father, Robert Richardson Jr., and then dumped the body, which was found partially submerged in a pond at a relative’s Aberdeen home.

The son has been charged as an adult with first- and second-degree murder and a weapons offense.
