Metro using MLK Day to perform track work

WASHINGTON — Metro is taking advantage of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday to perform track work.

On the blue and orange lines, shuttle buses are replacing trains between L’Enfant Plaza and Eastern Market. The Federal Center SW and Capitol South stations will be closed. Metro says customers traveling through the area should allow 20 to 30 minutes of additional travel time.

On the red line, trains will share a single track in two areas, between Dupont Circle and Friendship Heights and between Takoma and Forest Glen.

  1. I was in DC last saturday and had to use the shuttle from L’Enfant and Eastern Market. The Metro Employees were overall very helpful, informative and in full force. The ones I encountered.

It was good to see them in such a positive light. The bus drivers were professional and it made the hassle of having to catch the shuttle a not negative event. Thanks Metro Staff
