FREDERICK — Occupy Frederick members are trying to call attention to the local impact of the foreclosure crisis.
The Frederick News-Post reports that about 15 to 20 people braved below freezing temperatures as the group set up tents next to Carroll Creek on Sunday, and a few people spent the night. The group hopes to spread the word about their Occupy Our Homes foreclosure event next week.
Supporter Dylan Petrohilos says the local movement was planned quietly and most supporters want to bring public attention to local financial issues. Supporter Andrew Vache says the camp, which consists of about nine tents so far, is a place where people can come together as a community.
Frederick police told the group that members can stay as long as they follow the law.
