Teammate: ex-U.Va. lacrosse player’s mood shifted on night of murder

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — A teammate of a former University of Virginia lacrosse player on trial for murder has testified the defendant’s mood swiftly changed the night his ex-girlfriend was found slain and he had a “blank stare” on his face.

George Huguely V

Ken Clausen testified Wednesday at the trial of George Huguely V, who is charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of Yeardley Love.

During prosecution testimony, Clausen and another witness described Huguely’s heavy drinking on May 2, 2010, one day before Love was found dead in her apartment bedroom.

The prosecution says Huguely had a violent encounter with Love in her bedroom that left her bruised, battered and dead.

Asked if Huguely had any visible injuries, Clausen said he did not.

The defense claims Love’s death is accidental. Huguely has pleaded innocent.
