ANNAPOLIS — A Democratic Delegate who supports gay marriage says she could miss a final vote on the bill.
If lawmakers vote on the bill Friday, Del. Veronica Turner, who is in the hospital and scheduled to have emergency surgery that day, will not be on the House floor.
Turner, who is from Prince George’s County, would not elaborate on her health Thursday afternoon, but said that her condition was “serious.”
A member of the Health and Government Operations Committee, Turner voted earlier this week to move the gay marriage bill to the entire House of Delegates.
Several delegates committed their support for the bill this week, but advocates have said they are still looking for a couple votes to reach the needed 71 to pass the measure.
