Sherry Perkins has been promoted to the position of chief operating officer of Anne Arundel Medical Center, in Annapolis.
Perkins joined the hospital in 2006 as chief nursing officer and became senior vice president, patient care services in 2010 after 15 years in clinical and leadership roles at University of Maryland Medical Center.
She leads the statewide effort to improve transition to practice under the Robert Wood Johnson/Institute of Medicine recommendations for nurse residency, serves on the Maryland Hospital Association Council on Clinical Quality, and is president-elect of the Maryland Organization of Nurse Executives.
Perkins recently was named to the board of trustees of the Maryland Patient Safety Center.

Fun Fact: In August 2011, I did the Iron Girl Triathlon — my first triathlon! I’m doing it again next year, but this time I’ll have a team of 20 AAMC staff members joining me. We’ll be raising raising money for the Light House Shelter in Annapolis.
