Brian Darmody, the University of Maryland’s associate vice president for research and economic development, is adding the newly-created position of university director of corporate relations to his portfolio.
In the new role, Darmody will help coordinate corporate outreach and develop additional corporate partnerships in support of the Great Expectations capital campaign. Darmody will remain based in the Division of Research, where he is responsible for developing projects, funding opportunities, and policies to support partnerships with the private and government sectors.
Darmody also will continue his work as special assistant vice chancellor for technology development at the University System of Maryland.
He is a member of the Maryland Venture Authority Board, the Maryland Technology Council Board of Directors and is past president of the Association of University Research Parks.
Previously, Darmody served as the university’s director of federal and state relations and worked in the university’s legal office, the U.S. House of Representatives and the Maryland General Assembly.
